National Council on Higher Education (NCHE)
The
National Council on Higher Education (NCHE) is an
independent advocacy organization for higher education
programs and services within NEA, and is open to any NEA
member employed at an institution of higher education, on
leave from or actively seeking employment at such an
institution, and NEA–Retired whose primary employment was in
higher education. Annual dues are $24 for individual
(voting) memberships.
NCHE's primary mission is to lobby for the interests of NEA's 150,000 higher education members.
In recent years, NCHE has secured the adoption of policies related to increasing funds for student aid, dealing with on-campus sexual harassment, development of mentoring programs for minority students and faculty, expansion of faculty roles in college governance, and more. The NCHE Minority Caucus is composed of NCHE members who seek to focus the Council on issues of concern to minority members.
Members receive a quarterly newsletter, NCHE News, as well as special publications regarding NEA and its affiliates. To learn more about NCHE or join the organization, click here--or contact CCA's representative for NEA Higher Education, Gilda Bloom.
