2010-11 Community College Budget

BUDGET UPDATE!  Governor's May Revise

Items Remaining Unchanged In The Proposal:

  • Provides $126 million for 2.2% enrollment growth: This augmentation would fund approximately 26,000 full-time equivalent students to help balance the enrollment demand the community colleges are experiencing.

  • Reduces by $23 million, or -0.39% to reflect a negative COLA: Even though the economic factors used in calculating the COLA have changed slightly, the Governor did not update this figure.

Items Changed In The Proposal:

  • Reduction of $6 million in 2010-2011 local property tax revenues: The Governor has proposed an augmentation of $6 million in state funding to offset this reduction.

  • Reduction of approximately $6 million federal TANF funds: This reduction comes because of the Governors proposed elimination of the CalWORKs program. He wants the $26 .7 million funding previously provided for CCC CalWORKs be redirected to support categorical expenditures through Categorical Flexibility provisions.

  • Shifts $10 million From EOP’s and Part-time Faculty: These shifted categories are to fund the Career Technical Education.
