The Victor Valley Community College District was formed in 1960, with classes beginning in 1961 on the campus of Victor Valley High School.  Construction began on the present campus in 1963 on land that was once a sprawling 230-acre ranch. By the 1990s, the campus had grown to include a Gymnasium, Science building, Library, Construction Technology building, Student Activities Center, and Child Development Center. Student population also increased from 6,000 to approximately 9,500 during this period. Most recently, the college opened the doors for a 51,682 square foot Technology Center and Speech/Drama Addition to the Performing Arts Center.

Today the college serves more than 11,000 students.
