Diane Jones has been with Taft College since 2001 as a Professor of Mathematics. She received her B.S. from the University of Idaho and her M.A. from California State University Bakersfield

 

Taft College Faculty Association Quick Facts

The Taft College Faculty Association is a wall-to-wall unit that serves as the exclusive representative of all full-time and part-time faculty members. The Executive Board consists of President (full-time), Vice President (part-time), four full-time representatives and four part-time representatives. Full- and part-time Board members have equal votes (one person/one vote).

Taft Junior College was established in 1922 as part of the Taft Union High School District. The school officially became Taft College in 1954, and the following year opened a separate campus on Emmons Park Drive in Taft adjacent to the high school.  The district contains 735 square miles in western Kern County, and serves a population of 21,000.

Most of the college's occupational programs are headquartered in downtown Taft in an area called Westec (Westside Energy Services Training and Education). A 30,000-square foot building and six acres of surrounding land house the college's welding, machine shop, electronics, amnd petroleum technology programs.

The mission of the West Kern Community College District is: Taft College is committed to student learning in transfer and career and technical education programs supported by pre-collegiate basic skills and a wide range of student services. All programs and services are focused on the educational needs of the community learners.
