Palo Verde College is located along the Colorado River in the Palo Verde Valley, 165 miles west of Phoenix, 110 miles east of Palm Springs, and 100 miles north of Yuma.  Its service area includes almost 21,000; nearly half of these individuals reside in Blythe.

The college was founded in 1947 on the site of the former Morton Air Academy. Eleven years later, the College moved into its own quarters on East Hobsonway. In 1967 the college moved again, and in 2001 classes began on its current 200-acre campus. June of 2009 marks the beginning of construction on a new Fine and Performing Arts Center, which will include classroom/labs for studio art, music, as well as crafts such as jewelry and quilting. Its centerpiece will be a 400 seat theatre with associated facilities to support instruction in theatre arts and theatrical, musical and other performing arts events for the community. When it is finished in two years, this will be the first true theatre in the Blythe area..

The Needles Education Center began offering classes in the spring of 2000, and moved into its new location at Broadway and E Streets in downtown Needles in January of 2009.  It is directed toward reaching students in the portion of the District within San Bernardino County, and offers a variety of academic, vocational and certificate programs, and community and personal enrichment courses.
