More than 335,000 California educators belong to CCA, CTA and NEA. CTA is the largest public employee association in the state, while NEA is the largest public employee association in the country with over 2.9 million members.

It is an unfortunate reality that faculty are constantly at risk of harassment charges, criminal charges, or civil lawsuits. No matter how unfounded, such a charge against a faculty member may cost thousands of dollars to defend, even if the claim is dismissed before it goes to trial. CCA/CTA/NEA members are all protected by a $1 million professional liability policy, which will also reimburse legal fees for the defense of criminal investigations and charges. The financial burden of liability protection is reason enough to become a CCA member. Agency Fee/Fair Share Payers are NOT eligible for this benefit!
CCA influences educational policy and is a public opinion leader throughout the state. Association policy is set by the CCA Council that meets at least twice a year; Council delegates are elected by local CCA Chapters.
CCA offers professional development in its three conferences per year: the CCA Fall Membership, Winter Advocacy, and Spring Bargaining Conferences. These conferences provide faculty with the latest developments in the legislature, the law, changing state requirements, bargaining and grievance techniques, and the ever-popular state budget analysis. The best thing about our conferences is the chance to network with faculty from all over the state and compare notes. Agency Fee/Fair Share Payers are NOT eligible for free attendance at these conferences
Members are eligible for auto loans, entertainment discount tickets, grants and scholarships, and other goods and services at special rates. CCA members who take advantage of these special benefits programs can save more than the total amount of their dues! Below is just a sample of the member benefits available to you. For a complete listing of CTA member benefits, visit CTA's Member Benefits page, as well the NEA Member Benefits page. Agency Fee/Fair Share Payers are NOT eligible for these benefits!
To learn more about these scholarships, visit the CTA scholarship page. Agency Fee/Fair Share Payers are NOT eligible for these scholarships!
Download a JPEG of the CCA Membership form, then contact your chapter President or Membership Chair to calculate your dues. Then just fill out and sign the form, and send it to your local Chapter President or Membership Chair. (Be sure to keep a copy for your own records.) That's all there is to it! You can also visit the New Member FAQS on the CTA site.
Member Expense Statements (MES) are handled by our CCA Treasurer, Jim Weir. Here is his latest PDF version of the standard Reimbursement Guidelines. Members can email a scanned copy of completed MES (pdf or jpg) to: ccatreasurer@cta.org. It can also be sent by snail mail to either: CCA-MES, 4100 Truxel Road, Sacramento CA, 95834, or Jim Weir, 13993 Downwind Court, Grass Valley CA 95945. All MES questions should go to the CCA Treasurer. Here is the latest list of MES forms and informational docs from Jim Weir, with links in blue:
