Testimonials from Members

While I was always supportive of unions, I was never very active in them. To me, they were just a means to better pay and working conditions. That all changed when I joined Barstow College Faculty Association (BCFA) and CCA. I soon found myself looking forward to union meetings and conferences. not only was I helping to make a difference in faculty rights, I was making friends and connections with like minded individuals.

— Ashley Erin Vizenor – Barstow College

There have been many times in my career when I didn’t feel that administration cared, protected or advocated for me as a faculty members so that I can bring my most dunamic self to students. Being a part of the union has helped me to find my voice and fight for a working environment that supports my work. At some point in our career, we are faced with a difficult situation that requires advocates and people to protect you so that you can work in a safe environment that fairly compensates you for the challenging work that we do.

— Dorali Pichardo-Diaz – Rio hondo College
